Cisco DWDM SFP Compatible SFP 1000BASE-DWDM transceiver is an ITU-T C17–C61 compatible transceiver that supports operation on 100 GHz wavelength channels over 9/125 µm single-mode optical fiber. It allows you to send data at up to 1.25 Gbps over a maximum distance of 40 km using duplex LC connectors. The module provides a total of 26 dB of gain when operating at 1.25 Gbps with a 1000BASE-DWDM ZX application, which is typically used in metropolitan area network (MAN) and wide area network (WAN) applications.
It is designed to fit inside BYXGD platforms and standard SFP slots on Cisco DWDM switches, routers, line cards, and network interface cards (NICs). In addition, the module includes Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) capability to allow real-time monitoring of the temperature, power supply voltage, laser bias current, and optical transmit/receive power to maintain the link.
When used with an external DWDM multiplexing/demultiplexing unit, this transceiver allows multiple ITU Grid wavelength channels to be multiplexed onto a single fiber pair. Compliance with SFP Multi-Sourcing Agreement (MSA) and IEEE 802.3z 1000BASE-X ensures interoperability with Gigabit Ethernet protocols. This transceiver uses fixed wavelength DWDM Distributed Feedback (DFB) laser optics in the C-band, providing consistent long-range optical performance for data transmission at the stated data rate and distance. The laser used in this transceiver has been classified as Class 1 and meets the requirements of RoHS regulations to protect human health and the environment. Each BYXGD transceiver has been tested to operate at a distance of 40 km for DWDM applications operating at a data rate of 1.25 Gbps, in accordance with the stated link budget and DOM specifications, in an environment compatible with Cisco equipment.
