Description

This unit converts Gigabit Ethernet signals from copper cables to fiber cables. There are four POE RJ45 (Power over Ethernet) ports and two SFP fiber ports on this unit. POE provides power and data over a single cable to devices such as cameras or wireless access points. Each POE port provides up to 30 W of power according to IEEE 802.3af/at standards.

The converter operates reliably under extreme temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +85 °C. It can also withstand humidity levels from 5% to 95%, as long as there is no condensation present. The unit is housed in an aluminum enclosure rated IP40 for protection from dust particles larger than 1 mm and is cooled via natural airflow (no fans are used).

The converter receives its power supply through two 12–54 V DC inputs using Phoenix terminals. If either power supply fails, the other will automatically take over without interrupting power to the converter. The unit has short-circuit, overload, and reverse-polarity protection, and the total power consumption is less than 65 W.

Performance specifications for networks include a switching capacity of 12 Gbps and a forwarding rate of 8.93 Mpps. The converter has an 8K MAC address table with a maximum packet buffer of 1 MB and uses a Marvell chipset for processing. Mean time between failures (MTBF) is more than 100,000 hours.

The design also allows for easy installation on standard DIN-35 mounting rails (size 145 × 105 × 50 mm, weight approximately 1 kg). There are no configuration requirements, as this is an unmanaged unit. SFP modules are sold separately, and power adapters are available with EU, UK, US, BR, and AU plugs.

Testing and Reliability

The unit was tested in excess of 15 different industrial testing conditions, including environmental, electrical, and mechanical stress.

Temperature and Environment Tests

  • Operation at the maximum allowable operating temperature of 85 °C.

  • Efficient operation at a minimum temperature of -40 °C.

  • Automatic restart when power is removed during a temperature change.

  • Vibration resistance during transport or operation.

  • Ability to withstand repeated insertion and removal of connectors.

EMC and Interference Tests

  • Radiation interference (EMI).

  • Conducted electromagnetic interference via power lines.

  • Radiation emissions.

  • Conducted disturbances.

  • Pulse burst interference.

  • 50 Hz magnetic fields.

Surge and Protection Tests

  • Cable/network port protection at the 6 kV surge protection level.

  • Power surge testing to IEC 61000-4-5 @ 4 kV / 2 kV for 8/20 µs pulses.

  • Ethernet surge testing to IEC 61000-4-5 @ 4 kV / 2 kV for 10/700 µs pulses.

  • Lightning protection on each port.

Safety and Network Tests

  • ESD protection to IEC 61000-4-2 @ 8 kV contact and 15 kV air.

  • Insulation withstand voltage test passed.

  • Ability to withstand a network storm condition with heavy broadcast traffic.

  • Operational stability in a multi-device network environment.

All testing has confirmed that the unit is a reliable product suited for use in factories, outdoor cabinets, and rail systems.
