Cisco QSFP-40G-SR4-S Compatible 40GBASE-SR4 QSFP+ Optical Transceiver allows you to transmit at 40 Gbps over OM3 (100m) or OM4 (150m) with an MPO-12 male device interface. It conforms to IEEE 802.3ba 40GBASE-SR4 and the QSFP+ MSA and has Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM/DDM) capabilities that permit real-time monitoring of temperature, voltage, TX and RX power, and bias current values through SFF-8436 I2C. The typical power consumption is less than 1.5W with a bit error rate (BER) of 1E-12.
The module utilizes 4-channel VCSEL transmitters and PIN receivers supporting non-return-to-zero (NRZ) modulation and is optimized for parallel multi-mode fiber (MMF) links with laser-optimized OM3 and OM4 cabling. The connector supports a direct 40G link or 4x10G breakout to an SFP+ via MPO-8 to 4x LC duplex cables. The Cisco QSFP-40G-SR4-S Compatible 40GBASE-SR4 QSFP+ Optical Transceiver is best suited for Top of Rack, aggregation, and spine-leaf interconnects in data center switches, enterprise routers, or any application requiring 40G connections.
The operating temperature is between 0 to 70 degrees Celsius, with TX power between −7 to +1 dBm and a receiver sensitivity of ≤ −9.5 dBm over OM4. It has been verified and validated to work in a multi-vendor 40GbE MMF environment and will perform optimally while interconnecting devices that are using 40GbE 4xMMF in either a campus or cloud fabric.
