The 4-in-1 Live Optical Fiber Identifier operates over a wavelength range of 800nm–1700nm and can be used to test both single-mode and multimode fibers. It identifies continuous wave (CW) signals and three different modulated test tones (270Hz, 1kHz, and 2kHz) when they are received on a fiber optic cable.
Upon detection of a signal, the directional LEDs will illuminate to show which direction the light is flowing, and a beeper provides audible confirmation of the detection. The unit also uses micro-bending technology to perform live fiber identification without damaging the fiber itself. The unit’s sensitivity range is from +10dBm to -50dBm. It works optimally with 0.9mm fiber cables when they are measured with CW light.
Visual Fault Location & Lighting
A built-in 10mW Red Laser Source (VFL) can be used to help pinpoint the location of broken fibers and bad connection points. The visible laser beam can be used to identify faults in cables up to 8-10 kilometers away, depending on the quality of the fiber and the losses associated with it. A high-brightness LED will illuminate dark places such as equipment rooms, cable trays, or cabinets located outdoors, thereby making it safer and easier to work in the field.
Universal Clamp & One-Hand Operation
The 4-in-1 universal clamp is capable of gripping 0.25mm (bare fiber), 0.9mm, 2mm, and 3mm fiber optic cables without the need for adapter changes. As a result, no time is lost when working on a mixed-fiber project. The ergonomically designed trigger allows for one-handed operation. You press down to hold the fiber securely while beginning the test. The display shows real-time battery level. The automatic shut-off feature also enables the unit to conserve battery power when not in use.
Rugged Design for Field Use
The compact design of the unit uses two AA alkaline batteries (included) to provide a power source. It measures 24 cm long, 4.7 cm wide, and 2.9 cm thick, weighs 170 grams, and will work between temperatures from -10°C to +60°C. Included with the 4-in-1 is a shockproof carrying case, along with the main unit, user manual, warranty card, qualification certificate, and batteries.
