Cisco SFP-25GBX-U-20 Compatible 25GBASE-U SFP28 BiDi 1270nm-TX/1330nm-RX 20km Simplex LC/UPC Single Mode Optical Transceiver Module

Cisco SFP28-25G-BX20-I Compatible 25GBASE-U SFP28 BiDi is designed for 25G single-fiber operations using a 1270nm-TX/1330nm-RX single-fiber design over simplex LC/UPC on SMF, operating at distances up to 20 km. The application for this product is targeted at fronthaul/backhaul or data center usage and is recommended for 25GbE and CPRI Option 10. In addition to supporting 25GbE and CPRI, this module incorporates host-side FEC to meet BER requirements while being compliant with IEEE 802.3cc and the SFP28 MSA.

Digital diagnostics (DDM/DOM) functions are incorporated in this module that monitor and report temperature, bias current, Tx/Rx optical power, and supply voltage over a 2-wire interface in accordance with the SFF-8472 specification. Power consumption is under 1.5 W, while the maximum is 1.2 W. This module operates in a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and is compliant with Class 1 laser and RoHS.

The 1270nm TX and 1330nm RX lines allow for complementary pairs to be interfaced over a single fiber, with a 14dB link budget at 25G. The module is hot-pluggable, which allows easy serviceability, and uses one fiber strand for multiplexing in both directions. Electrical retiming stabilizes 25G signaling, while the optical PIN receiver/TIA guarantees sensitivity for long-distance connections.

When used in a BiDi link, this module can be paired with the appropriate opposite wavelength units at the other end. The module is compatible with Brocade units (e.g., 25G-SFP28-BXU-I) as well as other vendors, allowing for a mixed vendor environment. This U-variant module is tuned to the network that uses 1270nm-TX/1330nm-RX at the near end with D-side optics at the far end. RS-FEC should be enabled on the host platforms, as recommended for 25G Ethernet networks.
