10GBASE-ZR SFP+ 1550nm 110km Simplex LC/UPC SMF Optical Transceiver Module

Cisco Compatible 10GBASE-ZR SFP+ module utilizes a 1550 nm EML transmitter and APD receiver to furnish reliable 10.3125 Gb/s over OS2 single-mode fiber (SMF). The SFP+ operating in the ZR specification exhibits a typical optical budget of ~27 dB for spans of ~110 km, contingent upon link losses and margin counts. These modules are specified for operational power under a typical mission of ≤1.5 to 1.8 W, utilize a single 3.3 V supply, and integrate DOM/DDM via a 2-wire I²C interface per SFF-8472 status monitoring and real-time information regarding temperature, voltage monitoring, and TX/RX power. Electrical and management interfaces are defined by the SFF-8431 and IEEE 802.3ae to ensure compatibility and reliability over the host side when operating on the SFI channel, while keeping the signal clean for 10G. The interfaces are LC with duplex fiber; the case temperature is defined as 0-70°C; and RX sensitivity is usually ≤ −24 dBm, with overload typically around −7 dBm to ensure reliable long-haul reception with tolerance to RX overload throughout all regimes. Common TX typical optical power is 0 to +5 dBm; implement optical attenuators where needed; the end RX relies on the IO for reliability on shorter spans to avoid overload. RX LOS assert/de-assert thresholds specified for the interface are usually around −38 dBm/−26 dBm for stable link detection on borderline routes.

The TS single and multi-rate data rates supported fall between 9.95–11.3 Gb/s to accommodate 10GBASE-ZR variants, 10G Fibre Channel, and OTU2/CPRI variants with host support agreed upon. Power cooling and temperature rating for the TW–P changed spec covering the scope of deployments are defined for typical environments.
