10GBASE-LR/MR XFP optical transceiver is a hot-swappable module designed to satisfy 10-gigabit long-reach applications over OS2 single-mode fiber. It operates on 9.95–11.1 Gbps line rates and is intended to support Ethernet, SONET/SDH, and Fibre Channel transport applications. The optical transceiver uses a 1310 nm DFB laser for the transmitter and a PIN receiver at the line signal. It supports up to 20 km of transmission distance, with the normal expected performance being a 12 dB link budget and BER ≤ 1×10⁻¹².
The optical transceiver is equipped with an LC duplex optical interface, an all-metal housing to reduce EMI, robust ESD protection, and operates from a 3.3 V single power supply with power consumption below 2.5 W. Digital diagnostics (DDM/DOM) are available through a 2-wire interface for monitoring temperature, voltage, bias current, and TX/RX optical power in real-time. It was designed to support compatibility with an XFP 10G port for ease of integration in XFP-compatible 10G ports and was manufactured to comply with famous 10G optical standards, laser eye-safety, and environmental regulatory standards, including RoHS. It supports commercial temperature operation specifications from 0 °C to +70 °C. We include a hot-pluggable latch in the provided design, allowing for easy installation of the optical transceiver module.
