10GBASE-BX80-D SFP+ BiDi transceiver for the Cisco SFP-10G-BX80D compatible supports up to 80 km of 10GBASE-BX80 throughput over a single strand of SMF using an LC simplex connector. It transmits at 1550 nm while receiving at 1490 nm over the same fiber pair, allowing for dual directions over a single fiber while taking up little rack space. The BiDi design is intended for long-haul links and is optimized for enterprise wiring closets, service provider transport applications, Radio & Baseband Units (RAN & BBU), data center interconnects, and more. Digital diagnostics are available on the I2C interface as per SFF-8472, exposing real-time operating parameters. Each unit has verified compatibility with a wide selection of switches, routers, servers, NICs, and other compatible 10G devices. The BiDi design reduces fiber count required as well as the total cost of ownership for MANs, campus networks, and backhaul situations. A matched pair is required to operate correctly and achieve full 80 km reach, matching the wavelength of each device’s counterpart.
