Cisco GLC-BX160-D Compatible 1000BASE-BX-D SFP BiDi Transceiver Module (SMF, 1550nm TX / 1490nm RX, 160km, LC/UPC, DOM) is designed to provide ultra-long-distance Gigabit Ethernet links up to 160km over single-mode fiber (SMF). The transceiver includes a 1550nm DFB laser transmitter and a 1490nm APD photodetector (with a built-in transimpedance amplifier) within a simplex LC interface. It is designed for high-performance operation over a long distance.
The transceiver has a maximum data rate of 1.25 Gbps and is compliant with IEEE 802.3z and SFP MSA standards. The transceiver also has low power consumption, Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) capabilities for monitoring performance in real time, and a hot-pluggable design for ease of installation. The transceiver is fully compatible with a wide range of Cisco Gigabit Ethernet switches, routers, servers, and network interface cards (NICs) and will produce consistent performance in any environment. This BiDi module (bi-directional) provides a cost-competitive option to the original Cisco GLC-BX160-D by requiring less fiber (one strand) to transmit and receive data bi-directionally (two pieces of fiber are needed to transmit and receive). This module is suitable for applications in Fast Ethernet, Telecom, and Data Centers.
